About Sarah and La Yoga Vida

I became enchanted by yoga during a time of unhappiness -  I was not motivated to live my fullest, healthiest life.  I reluctantly attended my first group yoga class after the encouragement of concerned friends, and I immediately felt myself discover a path that felt better.  Just one class lifted the fog briefly enough for me to see that there was another choice - I could feel better than I did.  Class after class, I fell deeper in love with yoga and, eventually, myself.  I knew I was on the right track to a balanced life by the way my feet met the earth - there seemed to be less resentment and more reverence for life in my every step.

So onward I went, on this new path.  Along the way, I continue to collect the most amazing teachers, students and friends.  Through the practice, I find love, peace, honesty, generosity and joy I didn't even know I was capable of experiencing prior to a yoga lifestyle.  Yoga brought me home to myself, woke me up and made me vulnerable.  The growth keeps happening and the lessons keep coming.  As my greatest teacher says, the work is never done.

My Philosophy...

I organized the idea of La Yoga Vida in my head after a series of inspiring events, including the Spain Yoga Retreat in 2016, and a month of yoga teaching I fortuitously experienced in the jungle of Costa Rica.  During that time, I focused all of my teaching energy on sharing practical tools to better students' lives, relationships, careers and ignite their passions. I felt the sensation of being propelled forward, much like a moving sidewalk at the airport, to continue on this path of teaching practical applications of the Yoga Sutras.  The practical tools of the 8 Limbs of Yoga hold the potential to break through habitual patterns and live life with more love, passion, clarity and light.

Back to the name: In Costa Rica the pura vida lifestyle is celebrated.  This can be interpreted however you wish - for me, it means living well, loving a lot, laughing a lot, finding balance, reverence for nature and to never miss an opportunity to give.  This is also the meaning of a Yogic life to me.  Hence, La Yoga Vida was born.
